Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, FMA or FMS – is a growing problem in our culture. The name is descriptive of the main symptoms involved, namely painful muscles and fibres. This is an unhelpful diagnostic term, as people with Fibromyalgia will contest. It merely refers to the painful symptoms and does not give any clue as to the cause.
Mickel Therapy believes that Fibromyalgia is part of the spectrum of symptoms caused by a dysfunctional Hypothalamus gland. The symptoms involved in Fibromyalgia are the same as in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and M.E. The main difference is that in Fibromyalgia the predominant effect is noticeable in the muscles and connecting tissues. Fortunately Mickel Therapy works equally well in dealing with this subset of the condition ‘Hypothalamitis’. Mickel Health Initiatives are arranging an independent study of their work to validate this claim. At present there is no trial data to back this and it is based only on client testimony.
Sufferers of Fibromyalgia will be all too aware of the discomfort associated with this condition. The areas of concentrated pain or ‘trigger points’ are well documented in the literature on Fibromyalgia. They are representative of areas used by acupuncturists for centuries. They are areas of concentrated muscle fibres or energy blocks in the meridians if we look through the eyes of acupuncture.
Unfortunately Medical science is spending much time and resources researching the changes that occur within muscles in Fibromyalgia. This is wasted time since these are merely effects and give no clue as to the cause of Fibromyalgia.
Mickel Therapy works on the assumption that Fibromyalgia is a caused, like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and M.E, by the dysfunction of the Hypothalamus gland that we have dubbed ‘Hypothalamitis.’(This is a hypothesis and is not validated by research as yet) Dr Mickel’s book on the subject explains the symptoms of Fibromyalgia in these terms.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common problems existing in Western society today. As the name suggests very little is known about it.
Sufferers will know the plethora of symptoms associated with IBS. These include anything from indigestion, heartburn, bloating, excess gas, and apparent food intolerances to diarrhoea and constipation.
Much is made of food intolerances and the trial of restrictive diets in the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. However this merely deals with effects of the underlying problem that make IBS symptoms worse. It is true that in general as organisms we are becoming more sensitive to certain products that no longer are digested well such as wheat and dairy. However, as sufferers of Irritable Bowel Syndrome will know, removing such dietary compounds may give some reduction in the severity of the symptoms but they certainly will not remove them completely.
Similarly many doctors now look upon Irritable Bowel Syndrome as ‘stress related’. This is only partially true as many with IBS can contest. The symptoms of IBS can be present when no ‘stressful’ situations are arising.
Since Irritable Bowel Syndrome’s symptoms are similar to those present in Chronic fatigue Syndrome, M.E and Fibromyalgia, Mickel Therapy has effectively had the chance to apply its process to the condition of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The results have been very exciting and Mickel Therapy now offers a non-medication process to help with the disabling condition of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. |
